Any small business could use simple online videos for promotion. Video builds relationships and can be very persuasive. You can make simple videos with just your digital camera and some free software. Need some inspiration for how to use it?

You don’t have to start a daily or even weekly show. You can create individual videos that stand alone to post on your site.

Here are some different ways you can build your business with videos.

  • Have a tourism business? Shoot some video of your area attractions.
  • Do you create products? Film the production process. Emphasize your quality, safety, uniqueness.
  • Selling products? Demonstrate them on film. I just watched a short video of a carry on bag at ebags! It was really persuasive, and I wanted to see more of them for other products. So film your products; it sells!
  • Providing services? Introduce your people!
  • Have Lots of satisfied customers? Video their testimonials.

Search engines don’t only like text content - they devour images and video content as well. Videos are a great way to get visitors to drop by your site. There are lots of video tools (many of then are free) that you can use to produce simple videos. Remember, they don’t have to be flashy videos with bells and whistles. You want to get straight to the point - to capture your product or service.

I remember promoting a product page a couple of years ago - the client was selling a standalone mini-donut machine that cooked mini donuts right in front of customers. Granted the machine itself was a great product but lots of people were drawn to find out more about their product because there was a short 10 second video of the product in action on that web page. That video alone turned curious entrepreneurs who were just browsing for ideas into serious customers.

Videos - don’t leave your site without a least a couple.
